Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) Being disabled does not mean disability, has been a sounding theme of all time that bounds people living with disabilities in the country job inspite of gender, creed and race.

The government of Zimbabwe has struck some positive strides in attempting to ameliorate the plight of people living with disabilities in various parts of the country.

Another wing of disabilities , Zimbabwe War Victims Association(ZWVA) crying foul for being excluded from participating in various developmental issues including the need to have a fair representation in parliament amid the current legislative structures has been dismally failing to address thier concerns.

News of The South caught up with ZWVA in the Capital yesterday, Cde Vongai Mutokoti who reiterated that her organization is longing to have people whose disabilities were as a result of the atrocities endured during the liberation war struggle for independence to find representation in the parliament.

“As an organization we have noted that those who were entrusted to represent us in the parliament and legislative arms are failing to address our plights hence its now time we have a fair representation in the parliament so that our concerns will be cratered for by a person with a better knowledge of our condition.”

The majority of war disabilities were brought about during the era of liberation war struggle were some are failing to make ends meet to their unever healing conditions which needs constant check ups and medication.
It is against the backdrop of this background that Zimbabwe War Victims Association(ZWVA) now compells the government to address thier myriads of concerns from a parliamentary point of view.

“Ours is a condition which came as a result of liberation war struggle and some of the untold suffering and pains we endure today really needs medication and constant check ups which our members have been unable to access“
It has also emerged that ZWVA members are always left out from participating in various programs which often affects the disability community in general hence the current existence of segregation can only be resolved of a fair representation in the legislative arm.

“We are shocked in most instances where we see various programs getting published on radio, television and the press concerning disabilities which is a clear testimony of segregation among the disability community.”

On record Zimbabwe War Victims Association is known for making some tremendous efforts in sourcing donations in kind for its members who are living with disability conditions.
