ZIMFIRST PARTY PRESS STATEMENT.
<br
As ZimFirst Party, we are touched and moved by the global catastrophe that has found its way into our country and many other countries unannounced. It is promising to be of a disastrous nature and catastrophic if citizens and the government do not work in union to contain it.

Things may get worse before the scourge passes. There is no proven medication for COVID-19 whose symptoms are flu-like developing into pneumonia-like symptoms if medical attention is not received.
Our message to the whole country, at a time like this is, we are stronger as a unified force, we are our brother’s keeper, and it’s up to us all to take care of each other and the resultant negligent actions of any individual will affect the whole family. We cannot put confidence in any man or a group of people to do what we should in this situation. We must protect one another from infection. Our actions and health are our collective responsibility.

It is disheartening that after 2 confirmed cases we have endured a fatality. One death is one death too many and one infection is one infection too many. The resultant media furor after the one fatality speaks negatively of our health system that continues to be strained by reasons that the Doctors’ long strike brought to the fore. We, too, are concerned and pledge to play our part in building a better Health delivery system that every Zimbabwean deserves as enshrined in our Constitution.

We take this opportunity to thank Jack Ma who purportedly has donated much needed equipment that we can only hope will be distributed and accessed by all who need it. It pains us that we have a Health delivery system that depends on handouts whilst the taxpayer foots medical bills of senior government officials who enjoy foreign medical amenities.

It is disturbing in these trying times that we receive reports of a parallel Health delivery system for the elite and connected. We condemn in the strongest of terms an attempt to render good Health facilities to a small section our society at the expense of the majority. Any medical facility must be open to all as we fight this scourge together.
Let’s set our differences aside and keep each other safe from infection. After doing all that we can let’s leave everything to the powers that be.

So, help us God.
Stay home, be safe.
