Lilongwe, Malawi. (News of The South) – Zimbabwe soccer giants, Dynamos Football Club have cancelled earlier plans of visiting Malawi in preparation for the 2019/20 soccer season.

The trip cancellation comes in the wake of security concerns following a tropical storm, cyclone Idai that has claimed several people’s lives in Zimbabwe and neighboring Mozambique.

Over 80 people are reported to have died in Chimanimani and Chipinge districts while more than 100 are said to be missing due to Cyclone Idai effects.
Dynamos spokesperson Tinashe Farawo disclosed that his club was supposed to leave Zimbabwe by road for Malawi through Mozambique.

“We have finally come to a final decision that it is no longer safe to travel there, and what it means is that the club will have to play a number of local clubs in preparation for the forthcoming soccer season,“ Farawo said.
