Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – Economists across the continent converged in Harare’s Zimbabwe during the month of March to devise tragectory mechanisms in an attempt to rundown economic fragility in Africa to spearhead a clear focused sustainable development.
In the midst of the economic forum it was however heighlighted that Africa’s economies are now forced to embark on some robust measures which would encompass maximum utilization of local resources to encounter economic fragility.
A reflection on Zimbabwean’s own natural endowment of resources depicts one secluded and vibrant tourism sector as the main cash cow revenue source currently contributing exceedingly well towards economic resuscitation and growth.
It is in light of this view that tourism delegates and ministerial players in the transport sector converged in Cape Verde for 1st ICAO/UNWTO Ministerial Conference on Air Transport and Tourism in Africa.
The ongoing joint conference came at a time when the entire continent is yet to dry up its tears from mourning friends and relatives who perished in complete ashes of a merciless tragedy which dropped down outstretched wings of the Ethiopian Airways to the ground.
The ongoing 1st ICAO/UNWTO Ministerial Conference is significantly relevant in strategizing effective sustainable measures to enhance the two sectors of Air Transport and Tourism in a business context thereby ensuring economic trajectory growth.
Speaking in Cape Verde on Wednesday Zimbabwe Tourism Authority Chief of Communications Godfrey Koti gave an elaborate view on the ongoing symposium which is expected to harmonize the airlines business and tourism on the basis of bringing out connectivity within the parametres of business context versus government interests.
“The major points raised are set to harmonize the airlines business and tourism and its totality in Africa , chief among the issues that have come up is the issue of connectivity on business versus government interests and among other things.”
Reflections of the first session pointed towards governments’ capacity in proffering regulatory policies in striking balance between the two sectors of air transport and tourism on a state of equity.
“ On first session today was the air transport and tourism policy looking into regulatory relationship to maximise the balance of the two interms of how the core exist as they are all runned by governments.”
Seeing linkages revolving around the existence of natural wonders and other sectors of the society it therefore becomes a cause for concern for the governments to leverage on relevants of transport systems together with that of tourism sector which has the capacity to attract business investment opportunities for the country.
