Zimbabwe musician Tocky Vibes was in a brilliant performance at the Leicester leg of the “Tocky Ayenda Nenyika” tour at the Streetlife Club on Friday night.
Tocky performed together with Lady Squanda who was on stage for a very short time as part of her performance was marred by microphone blues.
There were a few sound issues at the beginning of the show and the engineers had a hard time trying to sort it as the microphone failed and the issue was resolved with the arrival of DJ King Alfred who got the mic in good working order.
Tocky got the crowd dancing and shouting for more in an action packed performance that many will be remembered for a very long time.
Phab Entertainment, the tour promoters received an overwhelming response to the gig as thousands thronged the vevue which ended up being too small to accomodate the numerous fans.
There was a long queue outside and fans became impatient and started pushing and shoving. When the fans realised the venue was packed and could take no more some of them pushed their way through and ended up getting in free as there were no advance tickets.
One DJ Langton Chipangula travelled all the way from Woking about 2 and a half hours away, he had brought 8 people to attend the show and was among those who failed to get in.
“I had been waiting to see Tocky and was very disappointed so I will be going early to the Dunstable gig Saturday night and I have to get in” he told News Of The South.
One woman who had enjoyed too much alcohol had to be attended to by the leicestershire Ambulance service.
The Dunstable show billed at the Dunstable Leisure centre on Saturday night promises to be a popular show and has a much larger venue which can accomodate up to 1200 people.
According to Phab Directer Joab Mugugu doors will open at 9am and fans anre reminded to come early to avoid disappointment.
Fans who enjoyed the leicester gig will also be attending the Dunstable gig.
Admission is £15 at the door.
