The Power Of Imagination

Take a look around and note what you see. Depending on where you are, there are fascination things around you. Buildings, machines, computers, vehicles there are so many things. If you are to move back in time, then these things wouldn’t be there, until someone thought about them and made them into reality. All these tangible yet magnificent things were once just an idea in the mind of someone who created or built them. That’s how powerful imagination is.
Now take a look at yourself , look at what you have and what you don’t have, where you are and where you want to go, and you will realise, if you imagine hard enough, you will ultimately come up with a way of having it all. Sounds easy huh?
The world has been blessed with great inventors, people who made something out of nothing. The likes of Thomas Edison have gifted the world with their inventions, with things we wouldn’t have today if they hadn’t thought about them.
Many times people get stuck into situations they can’t get out of despite desperately wanting to. May be it’s a job that doesn’t meet their requirements, a financial situation, or may be its some other dream you have but can’t quite get there, the fact that you have thought about it like that, the fact that you resent where you are right now, means that you believe that there is something better. The same thought that tells us that we are not satisfied on where we are is the same thought that should get us where we want to be; all it needs is a little imagination.
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. once said, “A mind stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimension.” That means, once you have imagined something greater, you will never want to go back to something smaller, something old. That means you would have gone to a higher level even if it’s just in your mind.
The power of the mind is so great that we don’t even know how far it goes. Sometimes it feels like it is limitless, and to think that we have all that power that we do not tap into on everyday basis is so shocking.
We all grew up knowing what is and what isn’t. We go to school, get good grades and try to make it in life. Sometimes it doesn’t work out because we do not engage the imaginative side of our brains, but instead fall into what people would have described as the best way to live.
Without great imagination we wouldn’t know what we really want because we haven’t stretched our minds that far. Henry ford once said, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.” That just means that people wouldn’t have believed in a product so great if they hadn’t thought about it, if they hadn’t engaged their imagination.
