The South African ruling party African National Congress has called on the National Executive Committee to tighten its security after the Westgate Mall attack.
Reports state that the suspect linked to the attack the ‘White Widow ‘ Samantha Lewthwaite, possess a South African passport which she fraudulently acquired as well as other identity documents of South Africa.
Samantha was spotted in South Africa between 2008-2011 travelling under an assumed name, Natalie Faye Webb with a passport which she fraudulently acquired and is in possession of other South African identity documents.
Although reports say that the passport was cancelled two years ago, some sources say the Briton was earlier this year again caught on the CCTV conducting surveillance to embassies in the Arcadia area of Pretoria which housed many government offices and embassies, meaning she might have fraudulently acquired another passport or she is using the same passport when travelling.
South Africa has for some time become a convenient hiding place and base for many operations due to availability of identity documents and passports which are acquired fraudulently through corruption says Ms Botha a terrorist expert in Pretoria.
Samantha Lewthwaite is wanted by Kenya on an international warrant arrest for allegedly involved in the terrorist attack at a Kenyan Westgate Mall claiming more than 70 lives.
