Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Various people have expressed mixed views concerning Morgan Tsvangirai’s likely ascension to the position of leader of the opposition coalition in 2018.

The MDC-T President is slowly appearing to be the outright nomination of all other opposition leaders with Tendai Biti, Joyce Mujuru and Didymus Mutasa all coming out in the media accenting to the leadership of the veteran opposition leader.

However people have expressed reservations about Tsvangirai’s continued place at the helm of opposition politics saying it’s the same plight afflicting ZANU PF and the country as a whole.

They have called for a youthful leader to take up the role.

“At this stage zimbos need to know what it’s like to have another leader at least a .younger one then we’ll remove him if he doesn’t deliver”, said one

“MT is popular and has been endorsed etc, is this not the same rhetoric ZANU PF uses on CdeBob, he is popular, cant be replaced, endorsements”.

“Leaders who are clueless , planless yes have endorsed him. Yet we haven’t heard of a plan to fix the country. A proper leader is needed”, said one.

“Politicians are indicating left and turning right. Who doesn’t know that Tsvangson wants to remain in perpetual leadership (of opposition)”

Others have however argued that Tsvangirai remains the most popular amongst opposition leaders with his long record making him a safe candidate despite past losses to Robert Mugabe.

“Is there an alternative? He’s the most popular and other leaders have endorsed him to lead coalition.

“We need a younger candidate who will inspire the youth to go out and vote”

Tsvangirai himself is on record justifying why he feels he should lead the opposition coalition.

“Haungati tabva kure uko tichitandanisa mhuka yedu yopinda mumba mako, iwe woti yave yako.” Tsvangirai, on why he should lead coalition”, he said recently.

Despite concerted efforts to craft the coalition little has actually happened with MOU’s between parties remaining a matter of conjecture with no formal declarations between the opposition parties.
