Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)- In the aftermath of Permanent Secretary for Information George Charamba dismissing acusations that President Mugabe sleeps at functions a video has surfaced showing otherwise.

Charamba stated that Mugabe,93, will not be sleeping but will actually be shielding his eyes from excessive light due to his age.

“At 93, there is something that happens to the eyes and the president cannot suffer bright lights. If you look at his poise, he looks down, avoids direct lighting.”

“In the case of Mandela, if you remember, you were not allowed to even use flashes whenever he was in the room. That is what happens at 93 and Mandela, I do not think lived as long as the president [Mugabe] did,” said Charamba.

Facts however states that Mandela died in 2013, aged 95.

A video posted by opposition party MDC-T, from the United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Cancun, Mexico has surfaced to increase doubt on Charamba’s statements.
