The deputy minister of defence who is the National Political Commissair of ZANU PF and the General Secretary of the War Veterans cde Victor Matemadanda has returned back to work. Speaking to Zim24/7 this morning Cde Matemadanda thanked all those who wished him well during the time of his illness. Cde Matemadanda said”I’m sorry I’ve been away from my work due to some illness. I am aware some people tried to kill me but I thank God I am here and back to work. I am grateful to all Zimbabweans whi prayed for me and to those who wished me bad I say God bless you too. I have realised that we will all die one day, Bu I am here because God and all Zimbabwean ancestors want me to accomplish my work. I have made goals i must achieve for my party and my president and above all for my country. I am here to accomplish it. I want to thank everybody who has stepped up, in particular His Excellency for checking on me but once again I want to thank you, the people of this country for the sheer grit and guts you have shown and are continuing to show as we move Zimbabwe forward.
Matemadanda was back at work Monday — after spending over a week recovering from a poison scare. On Sabbath cde Matemadanda spend the day writing his examination. He is studding for a PHD taught course. Matemadanda is a dedicated man who could not allow poison to keep him down.
His poisoning rattled the country, and even those who disliked him cheered for his return. But he may not get much of a grace period. DCCs and bye elections are beckoning.
Many cadres are posturing for positions and the party discipline is being shaken.
Cde Matemadanda has touched the eye of the seniors who had wanted to impose their own candidates in the DCCs.
In doing his Job diligently he has attracted many enemies.
“There has been a push and shove contest of the senior cadre who want to occupy the space near the president. Some people in the party have personalised the president and are claiming ownership of the president such that they do not want to see any one near the president. “
“It has emerged that the president is being monopolised so to speak by few guys who are misleading him and trying to turn him against his hard working cadres. This could be the reason why Matemadanda could have been poisoned” said one Politburo member on the condition of anonymity.
Matemadanda urged Zimbabweans not to lose patience with the party saying the party is becoming an example of a good thing ever to happen in Zimbabwe.” “I know it is tough, but ZANU PF is the only party you can call yours in the whole world”.
Asked about his poisoning cde Matemadanda said that issue is in the hands of the party’s security department. Once they finish their investigations I will let you know.” “ what I want is to get this party moving as fast as I can, but I refuse to throw away all the effort and the sacrifice of the people we need to remain resolute in our resolve as ZANU PF”.
Although aides and colleagues emphasized that Matemadanda was “in good spirits” during his illness, the deputy minister has conceded that he could have been one of the dead.
However Matemadanda laughed at the reports that he was on deathbed. “Its only God who knows which bed you are on. In the eyes of my enemies I was dead and finished. But in the eyes of God He knows when I will have to die. As of now huyai tiite basa”
Many people took to social Media to wish Matemadanda a quick recovery.
