(News of The South) – The Electoral Commission of Ghana has officially declared Nana Akufo-Addo as the winner of the 2020 presidential elections.
Akufo-Addo has been re – elected for a second term with 51. 59% of votes, beating out former president John Mahama of the NDC.
He was re-elected for a second term with 6,730,413 votes. Mahama received 6,214,889 votes, or 47.36%, making it a tight race between the two, as many had predicted.
Over 17 million eligible voters participated for the elections and many described these elections as the most peaceful elections they had.
President Nana comes from an esteemed political family. His father Edward Akufo-Addo engaged in the fight for Ghana’s independence in 1957 and is regarded as one of the country’s founding fathers. Every Ghanaian cedi bill carries a portrait of Edward Akufo-Addo, who was the country’s ceremonial president from 1970 to 1972.
Nana Akufo-Addo has been a figure in Ghanaian political life since the 1970s and the Ghanaians still believes in him. Nana Akufo-Addo still has old campaign promises to fulfill plus a post-coronavirus economy to reboot.
We congratulate Ghana on their successful and peaceful presidential elections.
