Mtukudzi to be buried in Madziva.

Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – The MOST life celebrated iconic departed music legend Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi who passed away on Wednesday the 23rd of January 2019 at Avenues Clinic in Harare after a long battle with diabetes, will be buried on Sunday January 27 in his rural areas Madziva in Mashonaland Central.
Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi was born on the 22rd of September 1952 in Highfield, Harare.Tuku died at the age of 66years.He left behind his wife Daisy, four children and two grandchildren.Mtukudzi began his journey in the music industry in 1977 when he joined the Wagon Wheels along side Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo, that was the beginning of the floods gates in the music industry and he never looked back of which indeed is one of the life celebrated departed legendary musician. His legacy and memories will remain for ever in the minds of many around the globe. For a musician to produce a single album its a mountain to climb but for Tuku it was something else just a smooth flow.
He produced a countless number of albums more than 45 albums, the untimely death robbed the nation.
The legendary Zimbabwean musician superstar was accorded a national hero status by the President ED Mnàngagwa during the visit to the resident of the bereaved family after the deliberations by the Politburo in agreement to the declaration. Those who work tirelessly for the country are rewarded regardless of their society status.
All walks of life gathered at Norton in Harare to mourn their iconic legendary musician, with the likes of the veteran musician Bobby Nyabinde who gave his praise to the late veteran musician Oliver Mtukudzi as a humbled man who will be missed by many and his void will be difficult to fill, Nyabinde added that he himself and the likes of James Chimombe just to mention but a few went through the hands of Tuku to be successful in the music industry and the same centiments were aired by Derrick Mpofu and Mono Mukundu.
The late veteran musician Oliver who toured UK, US and Canada on several occassion to stage some shows, and has a large fan base in Africa as a whole,an Internationally recognized cultural icon.Mtukudzi was also a human rights activist and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region. His close friend and long time partner in the music business Thomas Mapfumo was with no words after the death of Oliver Mtukudzi and is in the country gracing the sad moment, that dark cloud that has enveloped the Nation. Indeed Tuku has departed but has legacy will remain forever.
