The inaugural Miss Heritage World pageant which was due to be held last Saturday in Harare and was postponed due to financial problems is still uncertain as the venue and date for the rescheduled pageant has still not been announced.
At a press conference held in Harare on Tuesday, to shed light on the on goings of the pageant, organisers made it clear that they were not certain about the new date and venue.
Media Houses present at the conference were left wondering why the press conference was held as organisers had no answers.
“On the date and venue of the rescheduled pageant, we will let you know later but not today”, said Ashley Edwards, one of the pageant coordinators.
Asked on assurance if the pageant would still take place, the organisers said the fact that the models were still in camp was enough assurance that the event was still on.
But the media has refused to accept such assurance saying when the event was cancelled last weekend, the models were still in camp.
The pageant organisers said, told the press they had secured finances to run the show and a new organising team was roped in to ensure the success of the pageant.
The pageant organisers denied allegations that models were starving in camp as highlighted by some media.
“There is no model that is starving and the girls are staying at a recognised international hotel”, read the statement.
All people and all represented nations await tomorrow as promised for the great surprise announcement of the date and venue of the Miss World Heritage pageant.
“Tomorrow we will furnish the country with a detailed itinerary and program for the upcoming Miss Heritage World pageant”, reads the statement.
Tare Munzara, pageant director, arrived late for the press conference but gave assurance that the event would be a success and apologised for the inconveniences.
The pageant has 20 girls from different countries who are set to battle for the coveted crown.
