Zimbabwe’s former Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s faction of the MDC-T National Executive and National Council says it has expelled eleven MPs loyal to former Finance Minister and party Secretary General Tendai Biti after the renewal movement suspended Tsvangirai and others on Sartuday over allegations of devorcing themselves from democratic principles and abuse of party funds.

Others suspended include Secretary General Tendai Biti, Solomon Madzore, Paul Madzore, Moses Manyengavana, Willas Madzimure, Samuel Siphepha Khomo, Bekithemba Nyathi, Evelyn Masaiti, Watchy Sibanda, Settlement Chikwinya and Reggie Moyo.

Speaking to journalists in Harare on Tuesday, Tsvangirai said, ” By holding Saturday’s meeting in Harare, Biti literally formed his own political party and expelled himself from MDC-T.

The former Prime Minister described Saturday’s meeting which saw his suspension as ‘bogus, illegitimate and illegal.’

However, Tsvangirai wished Tendai Biti well in his political endeavors.

This political turmoil within Zimbabwe’s main opposition party comes after Biti suspended party President Tsvangirai and other officials in his bid for leadership renewal streaming from the party’s dismisal in
the 2013 general elections.

Meanwhile, Morgan Tsvangirai’s faction insists he is still the leader of the MDC-T.
