Malawi. (News of The South) – Cholera cases in Malawi seem to be slowly crippling in. It’s barely been seven months since Malawi recorded two cases of Cholera in Mchinji and already another case has been confirmed in the capital Lilongwe.

To make matters worse the rainy season hasn’t yet started which has in turn gripped fears among members of the community amid fear of the outbreak spreading.

Spokesperson for Lilongwe district health office Richard Mvula confirmed the cholera case of a 54 year old woman who resides in Lilongwe.
“The lab results show that she has cholera so she remains in quarantine,” confirmed Mvula. He further stated that a team of health officials visited her home in Nathenje for health promotions on the disease as well as disinfecting some places.

Mvula said his office is putting in place necessary measures to avoid further spread of the disease during the rainy season.
Between 2017 and 2018 Cholera hit some parts of Malawi which include Salima, Dowa, Karonga and Lilongwe which saw more than 20 people affected by the disease and three losing their lives.
