Tuku the nation’s darling
Zimbabwe’s sweetheart
Like gold and diamond the nation is robbed
Samanyanga, the nation’s pride
Oh!! But why?
Zimbabwe’s most renowned and internationally recognised cultural icon, why?
Why disappeared without notice?
Your disappearance without waving a good-bye shocked the world. In a split of a second, the cunning monster reared its ugly face on he who stood the taste of time
We are shocked beyond words
Burdened and saddened by you untimely death darling, Tuku

Within the blink of an eye, life forbidding thunder cloud reigned
Its tone became menacing
Yes I could see ominous rumblings of discounted And sinister ugly clouds smiling and a embracing the superstar
Robbing us of the world’s finest musician
Marked by keen caution and watchful lyrics
You were all in one
An international artsist, businessman,
philanthropist, human rights activist
And UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region

From birth certificate to death certificate
From 1952 to 2019
You were never a flamboyant deceiver
But a fancy colourful principled character
Yes! Oliver you weren’t a dubious character
Who attracts love with tricks and naked jokes
Even in acrimonious conflicts
You acted as the people’s stooge
Full of good supersonic wisdom
In the fight between justice and evil, You were taking a neutral stance
You knew very well , being indifferent is the same as siding with evil.

Your is music full of words of wisdom,
That moves us in the direction of harmonious coexistence
Empathy and solidarity with others

You were an artists with a difference
You never natured evil,
Yes you never divided people from people
And humanity from the rest of the nature
In a compliant subordinate manner, you stood firm In thick and thin
You stooge for the sound flamboyant legacy
Decorated with Love,
And punctuated by unity, peace and tranquillity

From you the nation must pluck a leaf, Tuku
You were a flamboyant adventurous singer
Who spontaneously flew Zimbabwean flag high
Not only in Africa but the world over
Larger than life, you were

Like what pompous flamboyantly
Reckless boastful characters does
Despite your popularity you were down to earth

The world is my witness
You were a man of unshakable an uncompromised principle
Always sticking to your principles
Dedicated and committed to your art- work
Samanyanga, you were a dazzling skilled musician
A musician of sober habits
Your resilience bore fruits
Your thoughts created your future

See now your flamboyant hero status
Has caught the eyes of the world
And that of the powers that be
You were nice to people from all walks of life,
It is the reason why they collectively conferred you
The first ever musician to be conferred National heroes status
The world’s best teacher was your songs
From your lyrics God granted you the serenity to accept,
Things you cannot change
Courage to change the things you can,
And wisdom to know the difference
Yes, Samanyanga you are gone but not forgotten
May your soul rest in eternal peace
