Harare, Zimbabwe(News of the South)-FIFA is set to introduce special tickets for obese people adding to the already existing tickets for wheelchair users and people with guide dogs, according to information on the FIFA website.

The soccer governing body said the tickets will premier during the 2017 Confederations Cup which is going to be held in Russia from June17 to July 2 as a run-up to the World Cup in the same country in 2018.

The special tickets, which are limited for the Confederations Cup, allows the supporter more space and feature extra wide seating areas.

Those who wish to get those kind of tickets will however need to avail evidence of their obesity with FIFA stating that “for Obese Person Tickets, presentation of a signed doctor’s note stating the person’s Body Mass Index (BMI) will be required”.

“The minimum BMI in order to require and therefore be eligible for an Obese Person Ticket is 35kg/m2”

This varies with the normal person’s BMI whose range is between 18.5 and 24.9.

Anyone who comes in at over 30 falls into the obese category.
