News that the English FA boss has been forced to resign after his remarks, calling black football players coloured players is nothing to rejoice upon.

For me, the FA has chosen to punish the trivial at the expense of the core issues surrounding racism in football. The real challenge for black players is not a description of their skin colour but, the increasing lack of equal opportunity, marginalisation and the vile abuse dished out to most black players every day on social media and in football stadiums. These are the real challenges that we need to see the FA force reprimand and not trivials.

What we need is for the FA to pay serious attention to critical issues and not cosmetics. The resignation of Greg Clarke after his remarks today is vanity. It’s just a mirage. It gives the impression that the institution cares when it does not care. Greg’s push is another convenient sacrifice of one to protect the rest of the mafia and make them look good. The solutions and ideas to drive racism further away from our football should come from us the marginalised communities. And not from the heart of an unapologetic institution which is compromised.

The FA should certainly do more in its agenda of diversity reforms
