London. (News of The South) – Africa is being handled like a roller-coaster and being held to ransom because of poverty and poor leadership.
When the English, Americans, Germans, Portuguese and French came to colonise, their excuse was that Africa needed civilisation. They brought their kind of education and languages and those who can speak and write good English, French and Portuguese, deem themselves better educated than those who can not.
I feel there was another way of education, better emulated and more coveted, that our ancestors used before colonisation. But because of power and desire to enforce authority and fear by colonialists, our ancestors, though I don’t blame them, were forced by circumstances to accept whatever was brought before them. Because of hunger, they were forced to eat anything in order to survive.
I could not believe my eyes watching a program called “Witness” early Friday morning 17 July 2020, where I saw children in Malawi, some of whom as young as 5 years old, being taught Buddhism as a new religion. An educational project entitled ACC meaning ” Amitofo Care Center,” teaching boys and girls to speak and write Chinese. Most striking and reminiscent of the colonial times was making them change their names, like one of the boys whose family Christian name is Enock, was later named Alu a Chinese name and he now bears the new name “Enock Alu.”
The heard of the centre was at one point emphatic that the world is not static, everything changes and what does not change is change itself. By this he apparently meant that if you think English cannot be replaced with Chinese and Christianity with Buddhism, then it’s time you realised this.
Now my concern is that, if our ancestors were taken primitive, poor and illiterate by not being able to read and write english, how much more illiterate are we being regarded by the Chinese, if we use their resources but cannot speak their language. God help Africa.
My Prayer for Africa
Your Continent Africa and your people Jehovah, are up for a grab again. What shall we do my Lord to save us. You know the right thing needed for us to do to gain your favour, so please come and save us. We have nothing to protect ourselves with, except your love and the blood of your Son Jesus. Some people say Jesus Christ is not the right name for your son and that everything we hear about him is just conspiracy theory, but only you know the truth, oh God. May Africa be saved by your Grace and I know you can my Lord. I am not worth the righteousness befitting an acknowledgment to pray for your Continent Africa, but what I know for certain is that through immeasurable faith in your existence in Heaven and earth, you are more able to save your people. May you please have mercy with your beautiful Continent and your people that you personally created out of your love,in Jesus’ Mighty name.
