Zimbabwe Women`s soccer League log leaders Auckland Queens have lured the services of two players from Botswana into their squad, News Of The South can now can reveal.
Lebogang Setereke who plays for Township Rollers FC and Rafiloe Tshambani who plays for Vicomates FC, a striker and goalkeeper respectively, arrived in the country for trials with the Bindura based team.
Township Rollers FC and Vicomates FC are all in the super league in Botswana and although the finer details of the players’ transfer to the Bindura based team were not readily available by the time of writing, Auckland Queens Coach Jerry Gumbo confirmed that the two players were joining his team.
“The two players have been having their trials with us for the past few months and they left for their home country to sort their work permits. The duo displayed great talent on the field of play and we will be having them on pitch soon”, he said.
In a telephone interview Gumbo refused to comment on the duration of the contract of the two players, saying that it was confidential though he hinted that the transfer of the players were done on club to club level.
The two players are not playing this weekend (Saturday) when we play against Chipembere, maybe they will start appearing in our colours in our next assignment. I cannot comment on the duration of their contract but what i can say to you is that the agreement was done at club level, added the coach.
Gumbo also revealed that they have plans to rope in players from Malawi and Nigeria.
Auckland Queens are current sitting on the summit of the log table with nine points in four matches and are yet to taste defeat.
Meanwhile five Black Rhinos Queens Players last Tuesday denied assaulting referee Mercy Maimbo last month during the NetOne One Wallet Cup.
Rutendo Makore, Tariro Makumbe, Jocelyn Elijah, Eunice Chibanda and Kudakwashe Bhasopo pleaded not guilty to the charges of assault when they appeared before Mbare magistrate Shelly Zvenyika.
The State led by prosecutor Revai Mudozori alleged that on July 05 2014 at Rufaro stadium, the five assaulted Maimbo who was a referee. They were believed to have done this after accusing her of being biased in the final match of the NetOne One Wallet Cup pitting Black Rhinos and Inline Academy and causing them their defeat at the hands of Inline Academy.
Mercy Maimbo sustained injuries which are highlighted in the medical affidavit.
