(News of The South) – The African Reconstruction Global Summit (ARGS) will commence from February 8 till the 10th 2021 with live beaming of the event occurring from Midrand, South Africa. The key focus of this momentous event lies in trying to draw the line in the sand on past and present crisis including the ravaging pandemic (covid-19) so as to create the Africa we all want. The building of an ‘Africa we want “is a flagship program of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 which is scaffolded on the need to have a prosperous Africa that is at peace with itself and that leaves no one behind.
The summit will be conducted under the auspices of the World Economic Congress (WEC) in partnership with Africa’s leaders ,pathfinders,trailblazers,socioeconomic pioneers and international collaborating partner organs drawn from across the continent,Diaspora and the world. The delegates who are expected to attend the zoom summit will be hovering around one thousand (1000). The delegates are drawn from an expanse pool of sectors like business, investment, public services, central and local governments, communities, artistes, academia, the professions, women and the youth. This large pool speaks to the African Union’s policy of not leaving any one behind in realising of the Africa We Want Agenda.
*WORLD ECONOMIC CONGRESS* : is a unique collaborative and global Socio-economic and spiritual mission committed to securing broad-based reconstruction and empowerment of communities and nations. WEC is manned by solution leaders, game changers who are solely inspired to integrated reconstruction in collaboration with like-driven business, public sector, communities and groups.
*PROCEDURE* : a panel of officiating African heads of states would make keynote addresses in sessions that are to be streamed and broadcast live across the continent and throughout the globe. Furthermore, through special sessions,a panel of head of state will also have a chance to engage with investors, funders, project leaders, corporations and solution leaders who are interested to pioneer and give shape to the next Socio-economic reconstruction thus paving way to the realization of the AU’s Agenda 2063 and also give impetus to the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area(AfCFTA). In addition to the African heads of state, platform will be created for notable public and business speakers from across the length and breadth of Africa,the Diaspora and internationally invited who will partake in the summit. The keynote heads of state include His Excellency (HE) Cyril Ramaphosa, HE Emmmerson Mnangagwa, HE Felix Tshikedi, HE Edgar Lungu, Nkosazana Dhlamini Zuma among other delegates .For one to attend there is need to register at Http://wecsummit.com.
*OBJECTIVES* : other than creating a platform that will sell Africa to itself, this summit will also seek to trigger a chain reaction that will result in worldwide mobilization and sensitization of Africans and Africa’s partners to the work of practical reconstruction initiatives that will result in attaining the much-sought after African Renaissance.
The summit is by all accounts an audacious plan driven by the sons and daughters of the soil who constitute a dynamic force that seeks to create an integrated and peaceful Africa that will become a force to be reckoned with at the global stage. While the plan is audacious but given that implementation of blueprints have been an achilles heel in the history of Africa, it therefore remains to be seen whether this summit will live up to its expectations.
