Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South)- A 25 year old Zimbabwean woman Shumirai Mtetwa from Mandara in Harare has been arrested after being caught attempting to fly tobthe United Kingdom using her sister’s British passport
Mtetwa was arrested at the Harare International Airport as she attempted to dupe immigration officials. The draka took place when she was intercepted following a tip off from a mystery caller and detectives pounced on her and demanded her to produce her passport.
She showed them the British passport number GBR 510******.
During interrogation Mtetwa confessed the passport belonged to her sister Melody Mtetwa who lives in the United Kingdom.
Shumirai Mtetwa, was fined $100 for THE fraud. She pleaded guilty when she appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe last Friday. Failure to pay the fine would land Mtetwa in prison for 20 days.
Prosecutor Mrs Francesca Mukumbiri alleged that at around 4pm Minerals and Border Control Unit detectives received a tip-off that a Zimbabwean woman was using someone else’s passport to fly to the UK.
The passport has since been handed over to the British Embassy.
