Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – The Zimbabwe National Netball Team, the Gems arrived in Uganda last Friday to wage a series of friendly encounters ahead of the much awaited World Cup Tournament to be held in Liverpool.
The three day friendly visit will see the Gems battling out to play at least two intensive matches per day as they are racing against time to complete the hectic regional trips with lined up matches in the neighbouring countries, South Africa and Zambia before they fly to Liverpool.

Reports received from Uganda state the girls played their opening match Saturday which they conceded with a marginal score line of 57-53 in an amazing performance which has been described as brilliant.
Letticia Chipandu ZNA Chairperson who travelled with the team confided that the girls performance was exceedingly well despite having been anticipated for a better result.
“Game 1 has been played today with a score line of 57 -53 In favour of Uganda but it was a briliant perfomance though I would have loved better results.”
The Gems will play She Cranes A, She Cranes B, Men’s Side, Best Club, Another Club in a tight schedule of playing at least two games per day before returning to home country on Tuesday.
“We will play two games tommorow, two games on Monday and one last game on Tuesday then we go to the airport after that game.”
The Zimbabwe Gems are not yet done with regional tours as they are scheduled to play other matches in South Africa, Namibia and Zambia.
