#ZimbabweanLivesMatter
Thousands of people online have joined Zimbabweans in their protest and calls for a just and less corrupt government using the hash tag #ZimbabweanLivesMatter.
The tensions and instability in Zimbabwe continue to make global news headlines as videos of police brutality against civilians, activists and human rights protesters flood social media.
On Twitter police are seen harassing a woman in cuffs whilst her up top body is naked showing off everything and they continued walking towards their car with her as if it’s normal.
People who have spoken against the government have been arrested after the planned mass protests on Friday last week, as they had placards written #end corruption, #free Hopewell, a journalist who was arrested for exposing highest level of corruption.
Among those arrested was Methembe Msipha of Bulawayo, for publicly carrying the Zimbabwean flag. The last time this happened was in 2016, during former president Robert Mugabe’s tenure.
Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has been criticized by fellows Zimbabweans around the world for failing to stabilize the badly damaged economy, rather his government is making it worse.
Fellow Zimbabweans are thriving in pain each day, 90% of the population is in the informal sector and currently the business is down due to the Covid-19, surviving in these times has become the hardest thing to do.
Change is needed in Zimbabwe,#ZimbabweanLivesMatter.
