Harare, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – A new Boeing B777 was yesterday brought by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Joe Biggie Matiza from Malaysia with three more planes en route, which are expected to cushion the ailing state owned airline, Air Zimbabwe.

“My ministry has made an undertaking to roll up its sleeves in the implementation of Zimbabwe’s economic blueprint for the attainment of the country’s vision 2030 of an upper-middle-class economy.

It is in this context that efforts to revive Air Zimbabwe our national airline is of utmost importance to us.



We are optimistic that this equipment will go a long way in unlocking value in our aviation industry, we are proud of this gesture as it demonstrates the government’s commitment to reviving the national airline.

The second aircraft is in the final stages of maintenance to ensure it is airworthy and ready to be deployed to Harare shortly,” said the minister of Development Transport and Infrastructure Development.

Acting President, Constantino Chiwenga said the existence of a viable airline is critical for the flourishment of the tourism industry. He further added that the other planes will be coming in February.
