Johannesburg – A Zimbabweand man has been slapped with 11 life sentences by a Limpopo High Court.

Max Tinashe (30) got eleven life terms for rape, one hundred and eighty years for robbery, fifteen years for housebreaking and nine years for various crimes.

He was arrested at the Beitbridge border-post.

“The Provincial Commissioner has applouded a team of detectives and crime intelligence who worked hard to ensure that the serial rapist and armed robber is brought to book are given long jail times,” Mr Moatshe Ngoepe ,  a police spokesperson said.

The issue of crime always causes a conflict between South Africans and their northern neighbours.

Some South Africans and politicians blame their northern neighbours of committing crime, with the fact that most are illegal making it dificult for law enforcement to apprehend them.

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula was quoted in April this year alleging that Zimbabwean soldiers desert the army and enter SA illegally to commit violent crimes.

The Zim embassy was not impressed by the statements of the SA police minister, and a verbal ping-pong ensured with Isaac Moyo labelling the statements “ill informed.”
