Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Emmanuel Macron the Independent Centrist candidate has extended his poll lead over his competitor Marie Le Pen further as the run-off poll date gets closer.
France 24 reports that according to the latest Elabe polls for BFM TV and L’Express Macron will garner 62 percent of the votes compared to Le Pen’s 38 percent.
This represents an increase of more than three percent since the last Elabe poll and is also Macron’s best showing at the polls since nine other candidates were eliminated in the first round on April 23.

National Front leader Le Pen, like a Donald Trump, would like to close off the country’s borders and as with Britain carry out a referendum on a Frexit from the European Union.
Le Pen has also been on record ascribing the increased numbers for terrorist attacks to the high level numbers of immigrants flocking into the country.
This is despite records showing that most of the terrorists have been home grown citizens from either France or Belgium.
Macron, a former economy minister who has never held elected office wants the polar opposite of Le Pen.
According to the artcles he wants “closer European cooperation, economic reform and says France must take a comprehensive approach to fighting terrorism that includes recognizing what leads people down the path of radicalization.
The election is however set to be held in the face of massive abstention on the left as supporters of the far-left candidate Jean Luc Melenchon who are disappointed that their candidate failed to make it to the run-off, are likely to abstain.
The projected absention rate would be the second worst for a presidential election run-off since 1965.
Other candidates such as Socialist candidate Benoit Hamon and conservative Republican Francois Fillon have called their supporters to support Macron.
