2023 is Dying
2023 is dying
Its walking sheepishly to its sunset.
Pale like a sun’s eclipse
Pale like a Kangaroo suffering from Covid 19
No-one can spare it from the grim ripper, The grim ripper is ready to strike.
its fate it’s curved in stone, lt’s untenable
No-one can spare it from the wrath of the ghost of Jezebel.
The Angel of Death is drooling, Salivating for its generous portion.
Raw blood and steak bone.
Soon it’ll done and dusted,
Ashes to ashes ,dust to dust the ghost of Jezebel will proclaim.
At midnight it will be dead
In ‘rigor motif’ like an ant buried in hot volcanic larva.
It will lie in state,eyes closed and mouth shut.
Sleep tight and tighter 2023
For my unfulfilled resolutions have vanished with you like morning due.
May all be gathered here to witness the demise of 2023, A year which was the year that was not the year.
May all be gathered here to witness the birth of a new baby.
Its first ‘cry for life’ is loud and clear.
Let’s give 2024 a round of applause, let’s give it a chance.
Let’s be merry, eat and drink.
Mixed vegetables, Turkey and Amarula wins.
We have bagged another year,
To make a difference in society.
We gained another year
To love thy neighbour and forgive our enemies.
To give glory to the Almighty.
We bagged another year
To listen ,learn and reflect on our mistakes.
To rekindle our new year resolutions.
To have a laugh,to say sorry to those we offended.
London is glittering, Harare is glittering.
Here comes 2024 glittering
like gold.
Could it be a year of golden opportunities and hope Pop and keep popping the champagne to appease the beer gods.
