Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) – Parties under the Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) plan to engage the African Union, European Union, SADC, and United Nations member states to explain their mandate as they press ahead with finding lasting solutions to the country’s economic challenges.
This comes after President Mnangagwa lauded POLAD members for their commitment towards nation building and unity.
“We are going to engage all SADC countries in order to explain to them the key objectives and major focus of POLAD. We will also engage the AU, the EU and the United Nations, our plate is already full even before the New Year starts.
A cutting-edge information sub-committee is in the pipeline that is going to disseminate information relating to POLAD activities to all corners of Zimbabwe.
Within the next 90 days, virtually every Zimbabwean will be hearing, thinking and even dreaming about POLAD. We have got the requisite technical skills and intellectual fire-power to repackage and rebrand POLAD,” said Obert Guru, the MDC-T vice president.
However, the country’s main opposition party, MDC-A which is not part of POLAD said POLAD will only benefit the ruling ZANU-PF party.
“If you ever had any doubt that the POLAD puppets are in it for the money, here is the proof. The country cannot afford to import maize, pay doctors, import electricity or source water treatment chemicals yet you have clowns with no mandate demanding cars from taxpayers’ money,” said Fadzayi Mahere MDC-A’s Education, Sport, Art and Culture secretary.
Former DailyNews editor Pedzisai Ruhanya concurred with Mahere’s remarks, “That’s what happens when people are captured. Zanu PF knew these people are broke and are looking for money. There you go with POLAD wannabes, fortune hunters and seekers.”
In the coming year, POLAD intends on assisting the government on ensuring that constitutional and electoral reforms are in place.
