A big tree has fallen, the lion sleeps tonight
A shining star, an orator per excellence,
Has been muzzled by the nocturnal witch, Death asphyxiated him and he is now forever asleep
Eyes shut , veins dry.
His body is as blue as a bruise
The nation and his family adored him
Their tears pour like rain
Their sorrow runs deep like a flooded Save River

They loved him like the back of their hands
They’re tongue tied like zombies
Their hero, their. Liberator has slipped into oblivion The Zambezi river is silent and still, as a salute to the gallant son of the soil
The mermaids of the Limpopo River are upset

For the harbinger of freedom is no more Unfurling leaves of the Msasa trees move back and forth at his Zvimba homestead Waving their goodbyes to nature’s darling lt’s as certain as sunrise and sunset
Our fine orator is not coming home for dinner anymore

He will never walk this earth again
The freedom fighter now belongs to the immortal world and the moist grave.
He made his mistakes like an other mortal being born of a woman.
Judge not what you will be not judged
For our sins might be greater than his Rest and rest in eternal freedom ghawe lamaghawe
Your history good or bad lives on and on.
