Harare, Zimbabwe (News Of The South) As the economy is failing to show any sign of recovery problems associated with price hike of various commodities have been an ongoing trend.

The most worrisome area revolves around fuel shortages and it’s insufficient supply to meet the demand of the public sector.

The government engagement in lowering hiking costs from one Rtgs to 50 cents Rtgs dollars was deemed a noble idea though impractical in a misbehaving economy.

One huge problem that has become rampant is the inadequate distribution of the urban mass transport particularly the Zimbabwe United Passenger Company to help ferry large volumes of people in the Central Business District of Harare during peak hours.

Despite the ZUPCO buses coming on board as a mitigatory measure by the government, private operators continue to hike their prices amid fuel supply shortages and high costs are believed to be haunting them.

The videos and picture images that went viral on the social media platforms when the ZUPCO bus fares were reduced to 50 RTGS cents showed many people stampeding into a bus through windows, a predicament that is a signal of transport shortages in the city.

The majority of the people who are employed either in the government or private sector are clamouring the stagnant salary scale during this time of economic upheavals and this has been aggravated by transport shortage which is an essential need of everyone.

Currently endless queues that exist at various terminus in the Central Business District (CBD) become dominant from peak hours stretching into the dusk an unfortunate position which is negatively affecting school students and women in particular.
