Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-As the ZimPF implosion continues to unravel the party’s National Executive Council has met and endorsed Mujuru’s expulsion of the seven founding members whilst also accepting the resignations of others who have followed in their wake.

This is a huge blow to the fired clique which, in the immediate aftermath of their being fired, organized a press conference at which they counter-fired Mujuru whilst claiming ownership of the party.

In a statement released by the party’s spokesperson Jealous Mawarire, ZimPF reiterated the dismissal of founding members Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo, Munacho Mutezo, Claudius Makova and three others, echoing the same accusations stated by Mujuru.

The NEC which is the party’s highest decision making body which includes all the ten Provincial chairpersons also received provincial endorsements of the expulsions by all the ten provinces, the diaspora, the Youth and the Freedom Fighters wings.

“The NEC met on the 9th of February and ratified the expulsion of the seven former members of the party Messrs Rugare Gumbo, Didymus Mutasa, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti-Chuma, Claudius Makova, Munacho Mutezo, Luckson Kandemiri and Mrs Margaret Dongo”.

“As builders we are aware that there is particular material that is invaluable for the foundation which becomes obsolete once the building of the main structure begins in earnest, and it is with this understanding that the party took the decision to part ways with some members who were involved at inception whom had become inimical to its growth”, it said.

The NEC also received and accepted the resignations from Sylvester Nguni, Cougan Matanhire, Ray Kaukonde, Agrippa Mutambara and Prosper Gavanga.

In a swift plugging of holes the party has also filled the vacancies left by those who have left.

Marvellous Kuvheya replaces Luckson Kandemiri as Interim National Youth Chairperson whilst Gift Nyandoro takes over from Kudakwashe Bhasikiti-Chuma as head of Elections Committee.

Engineer Wilbert Mubaiwa replaces Engineer Munacho Mutezo as head of Finance and Resource Mobilisation while Dr Crispen Karanda, formerly a lecturer at Wits University in SA, replaces Sylvester Nguni as head of Adminstration.

In another new development the party has since resolved not to contest in by-elections which its NEC has deemed irrelevant.

“The NEC also resolved that the party should hold its inaugural elective convention within two months and should desist from participating in unnecessary distractions such as by-elections”, it said.

This decision comes just after a devastating loss by the party in the Bikita by-election won by ZANU PF.
