Mberengwa, Zimbabwe. (News of The South) – At a meeting held at Mberengwa administrative centre on 16 June 2020, the overwhelming majority rejected proposed Constitutional Amendment Bill No.2.
Members attending the meeting stressed that the amendment does not advance any democratic dividend, but rather is tailormade to entrench dictatorship by enhancing the powers of an executive President. They therefore argued strongly that the proposed amendment is a recipe for disaster and a mockery to democracy. Many also expressed that government must bring food for hungry people in Mberengwa than major on useless things.
Our greatest thanks as MDC Alliance goes to MDC Alliance grassroots supporters who risked their lives from covid 19 by attending the meeting as well as leaders who assisted with transport.
The people spoke and we hope their voices would be captured loud and clear.
