Harare, Zimbabwe (News Of The South) – Four Zimbabwean women are facing criminal charges after being filmed assaulting a woman accused to be a husband snatcher.
“Nhasi tirikumamisa hure. Whooo! (Today we are going to make a prostitute soil her pants)” a jovial woman screams at the beginning of an assault video that has gone viral online.
Assailants, who have been identified as Jane Nyama, Adda Mukwanda, Memory Maraura and Juliana Chaputika, have had their tables turned upside down as they now face several counts of criminal charges. From cheerfully bashing a “husband snatcher” to criminals because of a man and mere ignorance. Recording themselves committing a crime became a bitter pill to swallow as they shot themselves on the foot.
Although it was later discovered that the assault took place in Durban, South Africa, their speaking in Shona in the video sold them out as Zimbabweans, prompting the Zimbabwe Republic Police’s attempts in locating them.
Zim women face assault charges in South Africa
The video shows a woman who receiving a thorough beating and when she tried to escape, she was pinned down to the ground by two more women. It is a sorry sight watching the assault, having the perpetrators deliver heavy blows to a young woman who moans in pain whilst lying on the ground. The lead assailant then proceeds to cut off her dreadlocks using a knife that appeared blunt. On the video, the so called husband snatcher, is bashed and lashed at, interchanged with kicks, whilst she takes all this abuse crying in apology.
Throughout the video, the woman who seems to be the wife of the cheater seems to blowing of steam caused by the pain brought about by the infidelity. She cuts off the dreadlocks she seems to believe were paid for by the family’s hard earned money that the husband siphons for the “husband snatcher”.
“…uchihura nemurume wangu ini ndichishanda… ndichitambura iwe uchi enjoyer.” She says you are busy cheating with my husband whilst I am working. I am suffering in poverty whilst you are busy enjoying [my money].
Do the actions of the wife seem justifiable though? Quite a number of similar cases have occurred lately and end up flooding the social media, leaving the question, how then is such a situation supposed to be handled?
The women have were released on bail after their hearing in South Africa. The four are facing charges of assault, kidnapping and illegal immigration and are due to appear before the magistrate in June.
