Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) – young aspiring Zimbabwean footballer is seeking assistance to get his leg operated again following a fracture during training.
25 year old Tirivavi Mangato says he was injured in May last year whilst he was training and ever since then life has never been the same, a day which he blames for all the misfortunes he has had to endure.
He said both his parents passed away thereby making it virtually difficult for his family to raise the medical funds needed for his operation.
Mangato recalls how this tragedy befell him on a fine training session and how it has plunged his football career to a sudden halt let alone the searing numbing pain he has had to endure every single day since May 2018.
“I got injured last year on May during training, and I got operated, they inserted an aid to support my bones, many people call the operation kuiswa simbi mubhonzo but now the operation is opening and I need to go to theatre again.
“My dream was shattered when the operation started to open and ever since then all I have known is excruciating pain, dreams of walking let alone playing football again are drifting away slowly,” said Mangato.
Much to his delight a local doctor, Dr C Mageza has offered him a free operation but however he has to cater for hospital bills and drugs after the operation on his own.
“I am grateful to Dr Mageza, Dr SR Maja and the Global Orthopaedic Foundation for offering to operate me for free but the challenge is money to pay for hospital bills and drugs after I am discharged,”said Mangato.
Mangato wishes to be able to play football again as he was playing a division 2.
Zimbabwean nurse Sister Memory Maja who is also assisting sople to News of The South and said “Tirivavi had a fracture last year and the fracture was fixed. The fracture has healed. He has wound breakdown with exposed hardware which we want to take out then clean (debride) the bone. If not operated on he risks developing infection in the system which could make him ill and weaken the bone again suscepting him to another fracture”.
UK based Zimbabwean man Tomson Chauke has set up a Gofundme campaign to raise money for Tirivavi. Please see link below:
