(News of The South) – The Zimbabwean Warriors salvaged a 2 all draw against the Desert Foxes of Algeria in a match which was played at the Giant National Sports Stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe this afternoon.
The Algerians were the first to draw first blood in the 34th through Delort who beat Talbert Shumba in goals for Zimbabwe with a free header.
Four minutes later the visitors were back to haunt the Warriors again, this time it was their skipper Riyad Mahrez who bullied the defenders around and got the second goal. All seemed to be gloomy for the Warriors for a come back, the Algerians were seemingly running amock to humilate the host but alas Zdravko Logarusic has other ideas.
The magic of the smiling assassin Knowledge Musona worked in the 42nd minute when he smashed a goal from a set piece to bring back a sigh of hope for a come back.
The match went for a breather in a 2-1 scoreline with the visitors in that slender lead.
Zdravko Logarusic the Croatian Warriors coach then made some tactical changes and that paid off. The Tanzanian based Azam fc player and former Highlanders starlet Prince Dube who was one of the second half substitute struck the second goal for Zimbabwe to make it 2-2 in the 82nd minute just less than 10 minutes before full time.It was his first touch (Prince) after his introduction to tap that crucial goal in from a corner kick.
It was an important goal from Prince Dube who gave the team, the coach and the nation a sigh of relief from the jaws of defeat.
Zimbabwe are now on 5 points with the Algerians on the summit with 10poimts whereas Zambia are on 3points whilst Botswana are at the bottom with a point.
The two Zambia and Botswana are yet to face each other this evening. -News of The South
