Harare, Zimbabwe (News Of The South) – Zimbabwe People First leader is planning on terminating the partnership with MDC Alliance following the disappointing behavior displayed by MDC.
At a conference Monday evening, Agrippa Mutambara said MDC had sidelined their partners in various leadership roles. MDC seemed to have the upper hand whilst using the other alliance parties as their puppets, to portray what seemed like a united front. However, he mentions that the chances of the alliance becoming a formidable party are slim due to political verbiage shown by MDC.
Mutambara refuses to remain married to the MDC alliance which he accuses of being a farce, even though there are still deliberations amongst his party on whether to disband and integrate into MDC or to recoup and continue as an independent party.
He says “As president of the Zimbabwe People First party, and acting in the best interests of the party, I refused to endorse the decision (of amalgamating into mdc alliance).
According to the Zimbabwe People First leader, support for the alliance during the elections was limited by MDC’s undemocratic practices and underhand dealings.
He promises that the people’s party will take care of people’s needs, highlighting that Zimbabweans have lost hope in Zimbabwean politics as they now believe that the country was meant to be ruled by ZANU PF with its war credentials which he considers as a fallacy.
He says the ruling party’s government has turned Zimbabweans into beggars, siting the economic difficulties being faced throughout the nation. From the long queues for fuel to the high levels of inflation. “ZANU PF is a sinking titanic whose majestic appearance of invincibility is just a mirage in the desert of poverty and despair.” says Mutambara.
In conclusion to his speech, he pokes on the current government saying that it has failed and should hence resign. “If election promises are not fulfilled, the governing party owes it to the people to resign. Zimbabwe people’s first party will never engage in discussions with a party that has failed the nation and brought untold suffering to the people.”
