(News of The South) – Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has allegedly given his wife, Mary, what is termed as “gupuro” in Shona, signaling that the two are divorcing.

The retired Zimbabwe Defence Force general has allegedly asked Mary Chiwenga to vacate their matrimonial home in Harare following reports that Chiwenga ordered her not to visit him in hospital after she demanded a written will while he was bedridden in South Africa.

The privately-owned Zimbabwe Independent reports that Chiwenga was so furious that he told his relatives to stay away from his wife when he was airlifted to China for emergency medical help. Chiwenga, according to other reports, came back home and stayed at another family home without having any contacts with his wife, who was once married to footballer. He has since allegedly given her a coin, commonly known as gupuro in Shona, which signals an end of a love affair between the two.
