London, UK (News of The South) – In a significant move to bolster the future of Zimbabwean football, ZIFA (Zimbabwe Football Association) Chairman Nqobile Magwizi is spearheading a special engagement initiative in the United Kingdom titled “Roots & Dreams: A Conversation with ZIFA.” This platform is designed to connect directly with Zimbabwean youth footballers based in the UK, offering them a unique opportunity to meet and interact with the ZIFA President, Warriors Head Coach Michael Nees, and other key figures.
The initiative, officially announced today, April 16, 2025, underscores the new ZIFA leadership’s commitment to exploring and nurturing talent within the Zimbabwean diaspora. With the national team having faced challenges in recent years, attributed in part to team management and player availability, this outreach to the UK represents a proactive step towards strengthening the player pool and fostering a deeper connection with Zimbabwean footballers abroad.

“Roots & Dreams” aims to provide aspiring young players with invaluable insights into the pathways to national team representation. It will also serve as a platform for sharing experiences and strengthening the bond between Zimbabwean football and its passionate diaspora in the UK.

ZIFA has specifically called upon Zimbabwean youth footballers born in 2011 or earlier, along with their families, coaches, and all those passionate about shaping the future of Zimbabwean football, to attend these engagement sessions.

The “Roots & Dreams” tour will feature two key events:
* LONDON:
* Date: Wednesday, 23 April 2025
* Time: 7:00 PM
* Venue: Nyaradzo Hse, Icknield Way, Letchworth Garden City, SG6 1EX

* BIRMINGHAM:
* Date: Thursday, 24 April 2025
* Time: 6:30 PM
* Venue: Diaspora Insurance Hse, 2 The Limes, Parklands Business Park, Rednal, B45 9PZ
This initiative follows recent reports of Chairman Magwizi’s active engagement in seeking knowledge and building relationships to improve Zimbabwean football. His recent trip to South Africa for an information exchange with SAFA and his meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlight a broader strategy to address the challenges facing the nation’s footballing structures.

ZIFA, in its announcement, emphasized its commitment to building meaningful bridges between footballing institutions and the Zimbabwean diaspora. Through “Roots & Dreams,” they aim to identify, support, and inspire the next generation of Warriors, united by heritage and driven by purpose.

The success of this UK tour could prove to be a significant step in identifying untapped talent and fostering a stronger sense of national identity among Zimbabwean footballers in the diaspora. The Zimbabwean football fraternity will be watching closely to see how this initiative translates into tangible benefits for the national team and the overall development of the sport in the country. The call to “connect the passion of the diaspora with the heart of Zimbabwean football” resonates with the hopes of many who believe that a unified and well-managed approach is crucial for the resurgence of the Warriors on the international stage.
