ZANU PF UK To Celebrate Mugabe`s Birthday This Saturday
London. (News Of The South) – The UK chapter of ZANU PF will this Saturday hold the 21st Movement celebrations, a day aptly set aside to celebrate the birth of their First Secretary and President of Zimbabwe, Robert Gabriel Mugabe.
National Party Spokesperson Itai M.P Choto said “It is also an opportunity to look at the many ways in which youth empowerment is not only an abstract vision but a dream turned into reality.” The Party’s Youth League which is under the leadership of Takunda Mangere will take centre stage as the party celebrates Mugabe’s 91st birthday.
The Midlands capital Birmingham will this year play host to the many cadres who are expected to grace the 29th edition of the 21st February Movement, being held under the guiding theme ‘Celebrating the birth of Gushungo, the icon of Zimbabwe’s revolution and champion of youth empowerment’.
Choto, the party’s media supremo said “We are coming together as a community of comrades to mark the birth of a true revolutionary in every sense of the word, which coincidentally comes shortly after his continental peers unanimously voted him to Chair and lead our community of nations in the African Union.”
He went onto highlight that it is also a time to reflect on the life of an icon that has relentlessly pursued social, economic and political democratic ideals founded on the principal of self determination.
The ZANU PF UK media point man further highlighted that although the hallmark of the day will be the 21st Movement celebrations, the party will also employ it as an opportunity to hold its maiden indaba of the year, which comes on the backdrop of the party’s December 2014 elective congress.
Asked to shed light on the agenda of the general meeting Choto had this to say: “Our consultative general meeting which will precede the evening celebrations will in part consider the ways in which our chapter can contribute to improving party governance and policy-making, and how a Diaspora focus can benefit our socio-economic standing. We will explore avenues that strengthen our national dialogue and in addition focus on breaking down barriers to political and economic participation.”
Whilst the meeting and celebrations are spearheaded by the party, the party is encouraging all Zimbabweans and well wishers to attend the two-in-one event. Complimentary food will be available courtesy of the Women’s League; onsite is a bar with an assortment of beverages. Entertainment for the day will be provided by the Youth League.
