0 0Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-South Africans in Pretoria are continuing with xenophobic attacks on foreigners living in the city with reports of lootings and ransacking of shops owned by Somalis and Nigerians today.
The attacks upon immigrants have revived the specter of the deadly xenophobic riots of 2008 and 2015.
For two weeks, several buildings occupied by foreigners and suspected of housing brothels or drug trafficking have been burned by angry residents in Johannesburg and the capital, Pretoria.
Video footage and pictures from the city reveal a mini civil war against foreigners which has degenerated into pure criminality with the stealing of goods from shops and beatings upon individuals.

On Saturday, residents of Pretoria West also raided homes they alleged were being used as brothels and drug dens. They called for “pimps” to release prostitutes and send them back home. Two houses were set alight.
On February 11, at least 10 houses allegedly being used for drug dealing and prostitution were set alight in Rosettenville, Johannesburg.
The protests have since been changed to marches against foreigner dealing in criminal acts such as drug selling with nationals expected to submit a petition to the Home Affairs Ministry.
