Zimbabwe’s title holder for Mr. ugly 2012 William Masvinhu did it once again this year by defending his title against various promising challengers .
The 39 year old former porter at Mbare once again walked away with the title of the ugliest person in Harare last Friday at the City Sports Bar after a thrilling competition.
The competition whichpits a group of artistically challenged men battling each other for the title of Mr. Ugly Harare was first held in Harare in 2011 despite it having much criticism at that time but as time went it gained much popularity.
Participants this year walked away with various prizes which include overalls , safety shoes and rain coats ;the first runner up , Benny Chakanyuka received US $ 100 while the second runner up Funny Musekiwa walked away with US $ 50 and groceries.
Apart from the crown and prize money Musvinhu also won school fees for a year for one of his children , a move which left the family man happy and excited at the same time .Asked on the preparations he had made for that day Musvinhu said no preparations were made since being ‘ugly’ was an inborn thing.
“My ugliness comes naturally to me and although I did a bit to prepare for the show , I let them to do the rest”.
His manager Michael Gundo said a little bit of choreography was done and not forgetting his funny clothing helped to spice the event.
“A bit of choreography together with his funny clothing helped me on stage but it was all minimum effort “
