UK urged President Mnangagwa to deal with human rights violations and corruption.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) has reaffirmed its commitment to assisting the crisis hit administration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, but under certain conditions.

The conditions were that, Harare should put an end to egregious human rights violations and corruption.

UK Ambassador to Zimbabwe Melanie Robison on Wednesday said, as Mnangagwa marked two years in office following his narrow and controversial win in the 2018 presidential election and since then than of the commitments by the president has been met as of yet.

“Two years ago, President Mnangagwa made important commitments to reform. We’ve regularly called for these promises to be delivered on. But human rights violations and systematic corruption continue. We again urge respect for the constitution and action reform”

Journalists who have tried to expose government’s corruption have been targeted, jailed and even harassed for doing their jobs.

Human rights lawyers have been harassed for doing their jobs and even citizens for peacefully demonstrating and as of yet this has been a crime in Zimbabwe.
Government officials have been tackling corruption without fear, doing whatever they want at the expense of the rest of the Zimbabweans.

The UK wants and stands ready to continue helping Zimbabwe wants corruption has been dealt with and ending of human rights violation and many opportunities will be up in favor of Zimbabwe.
