Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-Amidst sporadic accusation of his being a ZANU PF member at heart Norton Member of Parliament Themba Mliswa has come out in defense of President Robert Mugabe’s daughter who was recently nominated to be part of two Boards within a week.

Mliswa, who has divided opinion as to his true political colours, has defended the standing of Bona saying she should be judged in her own standing, notwithstanding her being the President’s daughter.

The vocal Mliswa added that it is not fair  for people to swamp Bona with accusations yet other people have been failing their duties without much noise.

“More people have been appointed and they have failed yet you are quiet, why are we quiet about them and fighting her”.

“True equality means holding everyone accountable in the same way, regardless of race, gender, faith, ethnicity – or political ideology”, said Mliswa in a Twitter rant.

Bona Mugabe was recently appointed to the much criticised national Censorship Board, which is chaired by former Education Minister Aeneas Chigwedere.

According to some media reports the “board is infamous for censoring the media, banning books and films that are to be distributed in the country and it is strange that in the Digital Age someone or some people think that they can prescribe what people should watch or read”

“It is a redundant body, set up on colonial mentality and a waste of money, which has no justification in a country that claims to be democratic”

A few days later the President’s first born was again appointed to the board of a new upcoming financial facility, the Empower Bank.

According to some sources Bona will be a member of the bank which will be chaired by Raymond Njanike and will be headed by Wellington Zengeza who is currently a general manager at NIEEB.

The bank will start operations soon although there is no set date.

Indigenisation Minister Patrick Zhuwao who is President Robert Mugabe’s nephew confirmed the appointment of Bona into the board adding that plans to establish Empower Bank were at an advanced stage.

Bona’s appointment comes along the same trail that has seen her husband Simba Chikore being appointed the Chief Operations (COO) Officer of the struggling Air Zimbabwe.

Mliswa has however revealed another niche in his armour going towards 2018 with another seemingly ZANU-stance which may not augur with for his supporters who voted him into power against his former party.

Appearing on ANN7 television on Wednesday Auddrey Chimwanda the presenter also questioned Mliswa on why he seemingly spoke “so fondly of Zanu PF”.

The former Hurungwe MP contested against ZANU PF and with the support of mainly MDC-T, which didn’t field a candidate, romped to victory.

Fears of underground ZANU members masquerading as opposition members have increased in the recent aftermath of Pearson Mbalekwa, a former member of Morgan Tsvangirai’s MDC-T, changing teams and immediately contesting in ZANU primary elections.
