Harare, Zimbabwe (News of the South)-The love affair-gone-sour between Prof Jonathan Moyo and The Herald has birthed another fight after the fiasco of Tsholotsho donations.

In a clear show of the publication foraging for an accusation against the Higher Education Minister, it published a story purporting that Moyo had lied about the President donating foodstuffs to Tsholotsho villagers.

According to The Herald the President had not donated anything.

However a Chronicle article revealed that President Mugabe had indeed donated 10 tonnes of maize.

This led the Herald to shift ground and question why the Civil Protection Unit (CPU) had not included that donation among the list of goods donated and revealed by Prof Moyo in a Twitter statement.

The CPU is coordinating rescue efforts for villagers in Moyo’s constituency of Tsholotsho.

This try at accusing him for mischief in lying about the President has led to the Prof ridiculing the publication on social media whilst also accusing his political enemies of concocting the whole scheme.

“The trouble that some successionists are taking to capture rationality & command nonsense in the Zim media is breathtakingly embarrassing!”

“It was #Chronicle that first reported Pres Mugabe donated to Tsholotsho flood victims but #Herald wishes it was me!”

“#Herald says no donation was made & then asks why 11 March CPU update excluded 10 tonnes of maize. Ask CPU & not me!” he said.

When told by one responder that the occurring fiasco is his own creation from his time as the Minister of Information, Moyo denied and said the publication was just like that when he got there and he left it in the same state.

“Cde this is now beyond a joke. Unfortunately u ar also responsible for sowing this journalism cesspit that’s come back to haunt you”, said the responder.

To this Moyo replied that “Cde I found them there & left them there!”

“Among the literate, it is self-evident that the list was prepared by the Civil Protection Unit which has a responsibility to do that!”
