Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) Zimbabwe is a spiritual country and has a very profound cultural heritage. The forefathers from all Zimbabwean totems followed tradition in the olden days before colonialism but efforts to destroy Zimbabwean tradition and culture through Colonialism by the British was almost successful. Today in 2024 we can successfully say Zimbabweans are holding on to their heritage and tracing their origins which form part of their DNA and who they are today. The 12 original Kings of Zimbabwe are Hungwe, Nzou Mbizi, Shumba, Moyo, Soko, Mhara, Mhofu, Gwai Humba, Nondo and Dziva.
All clans in Zimbabwe fall under the above mentioned 12 original Kings, Chiefs also known as “Varidzi Venyika”. Most Zimbabweans do not know this information and more needs to be done to educate Zimbabweans on their history, this will help to preserve this history. All the Shumba Totems fall under Shumba Gurundoro who is King (Paramount Chief Mbari). King Mbari is one of the 12 who were coronated or installed as the Madzimambo endoro. King Mbari was the King of Kings and many Kings in Zimbabwe reported to him and consulted him on various matters.
This information about who the 12 original Kings/ Chiefs Madzimambo endoro is very important when we talk about the spirituality of Zimbabwe especially when linked to the 1st and 2nd Chimurenga and how Zimbabwe was led by various spirit mediums who gave guidance on how to win the war and gain Independence. The Kings starting from Harare going all the way to Manicaland were led by the spirit medium Nehanda, In Matabeleland and Masvingo and other provinces in the opposite direction in Zimbabwe were led by other spirit mediums, they never came into contact with Nehanda and only got to hear about Nehanda spirit through the liberation struggle story being narrated. A few days ago I penned an article citing the outstanding traditional requirements that will help resolve Zimbabwe’s ongoing problems. The article titled :
Zimbabwe’s War Veterans, Chiefs and Mugabe Were given instructions on how to spiritually return the country to it’s owners, the article available on the link below:

It’s very sad how most Zimbabweans don’t know their history while some shun their origins and anything to do with their forefathers and culture. Many Africans are even now bleaching because they foolishly believe looking lighter makes them beautiful, they cannot accept who they are and their beautiful skin. They were mentally colonised.
When migration took place in the 17th and 18th century people established their homes in Zimbabwe and different clans went to settle in various parts of the country according to where they were led by the spirit. I am from the Mbari clan so will talk about the Mbari clan led by my ancestor King Mbari also known as Paramount Chief Mbari. Please note the title Chief was given to all Kings across Africa by British colonialists and others who colonised other countries, other colonialists such as France in efforts to downgrade the power and regal status of African Royals. The Mbari clan settled in Present day Harare which was Mbari’s Kingdom with his headquarters at Chihoka Hill now named Kopje since the take over of the Kingdom by the British settlers. Unfortunately till today my clan the Mbari clan are still fighting to resuscitate the Harare Kingdom which up to now does not have it’s Chieftaincy. The Chieftaincy was destroyed during Colonialism and a a Constitution put in place states that Harare and Bulawayo are not to have Chiefs. The Zimbabwean constitution currenlty has a lot that suppresses black people and needs further ammendments.
The responsibility to fulfil the outstanding traditional requirements for Zimbabwe since gaining Independence lies with Hungwe, Nzou Mbizi, Shumba, Moyo, Soko, Mhara, Mhofu, Gwai Humba, Nondo and Dziva. The above named should be tasked to do what they are required to do.
Among the 6 requirements are:
1) Ensure the remains of those killed by the British and beheaded as wartrophies heads are repatriated back to Zimbabwe from British and Scottish museums
2) Collect all remains of those killed during the liberation war and give them decent burial
3) Remove the remains of Cecil John Rhodes and his 12 men buried at Matope, the correct name is Matope but Zimbabweans the the World call it Matopos. Matopos is a very sacred area and the burial of Rhodes and his allies suppresses the spirituality.
4) All the 12 original Kings (Chiefs) are to back to their respective territories and conduct traditional ceremonies to make their mountains and forests/ bushes sacred areas again
5) Kutura nyika to the forefathers who died long ago. To have a bira (traditional ceremony and brew traditional beer at the heart beat of Zimbabwe
6) The leader who leads the country should be chosen spiritually by the 12 original Kings (madzimambo. The 12 original Kings (chiefs) of Zimbabwe are just like the 12 tribes of Israel
Matope (Matopos)
It was stated by Nehanda that Matope is the sacred area where the whole of Africa would go and ask for water or any other guidance . There was a rock that used to speak and ever since Cecil Rhodes was buried there the country is under spiritual capture, the voice stopped speaking and the country no longer gets the spiritual guidance it badly needs. The whole of Africa according to Nehanda was one country without borders. Borders were created by the British settlers who then split Africa into countries like Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, South Africa and all other African countries till today.
Nehanda the spirit explained that Zimbabweans cannot successfully run the country when the children are crying in the bushes where they were left during colonialism, you cannot have the country run successfully and enjoy while your forefathers (madziteteguru are out in the hands of the British)
Herbert Chitepo was told he would not see a free Zimbabwe as he had to remain behind in the bushes with the fallen heroes and all children of Zimbabwe killed during the liberation struggle. That very same week Herbert Chitepo was killed and spiritually looks after all Zimbabweans killed and buried outside the country. Josiah Tongogara was also told he would not see a free and independent Zimbabwe as he was required to remain behind spiritually to take care of the fallen heores killed and buried in bushes outside Zimbabwe. All this that was advised by Nehanda has come to pass and instructions given were followed except the 6 commandments on what to do after gaining Independence.
Some bodies were not buried and this remains the situation till today. An example is the bodies of the Mbari clan killed at Makumimavi in Chivu, some of the the Mbari who had escaped from Harare had settled in Chivu and the mountain where they were staying was surrounded and they were massacred. The Mbari genocide was bigger than the gukurahundi genocide. The Mbari clan were the worst hit clan in Zimbabwe and to add insukt to injury their Chieftaincy for Harare Kingdom remains unrestored and they are still destitutes without their land, they still live on other Chiefs land yet they have their Ancestral land a heritage to protect.
