Harare, Zimbabwe (News of The South) – As Zimbabwensa are busy frantically searching for solutions to enable the Southern African country to get back on track they continue to sideline the real deal which is the spiritual return of the country to the “owners” ie the original 12 Chiefs of Zimbabwe. The country currently has just beliw 300 Chiefs who are mostly ceremonial Chiefs without power, power was stripped by the British then further power stripped by the former and late President Robert Mugabe.

During the 2nd Chimurenga war the spirit of Nehanda at that time was Nehanda Mazviona, the spirit instructed them what to do to win the war against British Colonialists. They were also instructed what to do when they win the war. It’s interesting to know who was given the instructions and who should be leading the process to return the country. Today we hear many people saying the government has not returned the country to the owners. It’s also important to remember that by then there was no government like the current one, the current one is set up imposed on Zimbabwe by the British.

Robert Mugabe was one of the people given instructions but for the entirety of his 37 years old rule he failed to address the issue, he hardly spoke about it or told anyone else. Those who were present when these instructions were given were too afraid to confront Mugabe or to even remind him. Mugabe was widely feared by many!. War Veterans and Mugabe were instructed to tell the traditional Chiefs to conduct the ceremony but Mugabe together with war veterans did not follow. Traditional Chiefs are the ones who were said should conduct the ceremony and they are to carry it out under spiritual guidance. The big problem right now is out of the nearly 300 traditional Chiefs most of them are not supposed to be Chiefs because some were appointed by British for being sellouts selling out their own fellow black people, examples are Hwata, Chiweshe and many others, others became Chiefs due to their political affiliations, other Chiefs are vazukuru) or grand children who shouldn’t be on the throne, others who are Chiefs are from families that shouldn’t be Chiefs (Zimbabwean families fight for Chieftaincy and sometimes one family who shouldnt be Chief has the Chief from their family so there are many families who currently have disputes). This presents another complication because the Chiefs who should be conducting this ceremony should do it spiritually as it is in their bloodline. If the ceremony is conducted by the wrong people the spirits will simply ignore whatever they do they don’t listen to them. Chief Mbari who was a Paramount Chief, Chief of Harare is currently not a Chief, he is one of the Chiefs required whon as spiritually appointed.

Another complication is that not everyone believed in Nehanda or knew Nehanda, for example Chiefs who were in Matebeland didn’t know Nehanda as they were never led by her spirit, Chiefs in Masvingo and other provinces were not led by Nehanda in the Chimurenga war, instead they went to Makope who led them. One good example is Chief Sithole who also went to Makope.

During the Chimurenga war when comrades got to Hwedza they would ask to see the Chief and the mhondoro of the area would give them the laws of the land, they would be told what they could do and could not do, they were also told about the sacred areas they could not go to and they listened. Spiritual guidance was very important because each land in Zimbabwe has it’s own laws because the land is owned and controlled by different clans. This practice also took place all over Manicaland, visitors to other Chiefs land had to be given the greenlight by the owners of the land.

The Murenga family is where Nehanda originated from, the Murenga family were Nehanda’s paternal family, her father was from there. The Murenga family knew and still know everything about Nehanda, they even carried the cloths and materials she used when she travelled from Dande to Chifombo in Zambia.

So among the Comrades or war veterans present when Nehanda gave instructions on how to return the country to the ” Owners” were cde Murenga, cde Khumalo, Cde Bethule and these are all still alive with one in Harare, one in Gweru and one in Mash west and a few others in other areas. If Zimbabweans really want to resolve their problems they need to interview these people and others who were present and push them to do the ceremony to return the country to the “owners”.

The comrades were also given (tsvimbo) traditional stick or Sceptre and they were told what to do with it. The late Nehanda Mazviona was used by traditional Chiefs and when she died she wasn’t buried according to tradition and without any compensation.

Since Zimbabwe gained Independence in 1980 the country has seen thousands of fake mhondoro ( fake spirit mediums) who have misled the government and made them do various wrong things.

On the issue of the late Robert Mugabe, Mugabe selfishly kept the information to himself, as a leader he failed to inform the nation and ensure what was to be done was done, he decided to go to his grave with the secret but for now it’s the duty of the others who were present when the instructions were given to do what needs to be done. Mugabe went further with his selfishness and stripped the Chiefs of more power, he left them like bulldogs without teeth, this is the honest truth and Zimbabweans need to ammend the traditional leaders act on the Zimbabwean constitution.

Some of the 280 traditional Chiefs on the other hand are supposed to call for installation for the real Chiefs who were installed spiritually so they can lead the ceremony, as they are unable to do it themselves (installed by settlers or self imposed or installed for their political affiliations). Unfortunately they are too selfish to do this as they would want to stay on the various thrones where they don’t belong, it is this selfishness which is drawing the country backwards. Zimbabwe being a small country as it is doesn’t need so many traditional Chiefs as it has at the moment. There needs to be an audit and removal of all tradtional Chiefs who were appointed as payment for being sellouts by Colonialists.
