Where has the respect gone to? It seems people have lost respect for each other’s privacy!
After screaming about Vendors a few months ago, Harare seems to ignore the obvious squatter entrepreneurs that just open office in front of other people’s premises in and around the CBD.
From random pictures appearing on social media and newspapers to people doing their businesses in front of each other’s properties-it is mayhem.
Maybe it’s the economic problems bedevilling the country, but I think respect for each other should be something independent of the economic situation.
Respect for each other’s property and privacy leads to development; no wonder developed countries have strict privacy laws, whether written or unwritten.
Without even asking or having an idea how it affect your operations, you find a people conducting their business in front of your gate or door.
Fly-by-night mechanics fixing kombis, spilling oils and dropping parts right in front of your gate, women selling the very product you are trying to move, right there on your doorstep.
Where has the respect for each other’s property and business gone to?
I understand things are difficult but do it elsewhere; I also need to make a living.
I am sure you can earn yourself a lot of respect from your clientele and grow if you conduct your business at your own premises.
What has happened to courteous? Ask. If possible, you will be given permission, if not- live with it, find somewhere else.
The chaos has caused a lot of problems for businesses and individuals alike.
We appeal to the City Fathers to do something before we turn into a rogue nation filled with lawlessness.
I also appeal to those thriving on abusing other people’s properties to have a little respect for privacy, do unto others as you’d have them do unto you.
We are beloved country-lets us all keep it that way.
