Statement
Heavenly Culture World Peace and Restoration of Light (HWPL) Southern Africa Branch is pleased to inform you that as of the 12th November 2020, the Suwon District Court in South Korea has granted Chairman Man Hee Lee’s bail. The bail was granted on the consideration of Chairman Lee’s old age, deteriorating health and low risk of him destroying evidence.
Chairman Lee was in a detainment facility for 103 days since 1st August 2020 as the leader of the Church founded in 1984, Shincheonji Church of Jesus, had many members infected during South Korea’s early coronavirus outbreak in late February.
HWPL wishes to express its gratitude to the HWPL volunteers and fellow peace ambassadors who have actively participated and supported the Chairman throughout his time in the detention facility. We would especially like to thank the religious leaders and the press and media who worked as one to raise awareness and garner support for his release.
We believe in the rule of law and that justice will prevail as the truth comes out regarding the innocence of Chairman Lee. Furthermore, we urge all the peace messengers to continue the noble work of peace as we advance the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), Peace Education and the Alliance of Religions as the three initiatives that act as a catalyst to achieving world peace.
