A South African pastor Sthembiso Zondo has issued a public apology following a video which features him walking around naked went viral.

Zondo, a divorced Pastor popular for his motivational talks on Ukhozi FM, was filmed in the lounge area of his home by an unidentified woman while talking on his phone, seemingly oblivious to the filming.

The video link first featured on Twitter from one Dropbox account which has since been disabled due to high volume of traffic.

“I have forgiven the person who shot the video and all those involved,” Zondo began in his public apology. “I apologise to Ukhozi FM, fellow pastors who listen to my show, as well as all the people of South Africa for the video.”

SABC network says it will not schedule any future appearances from him on Ukhozi FM’s breakfast show, Vuka Motivation.

“This follows the unfortunate incident of the release to the public of a video and photos purported to be of Pastor Zondo in a compromising position,” SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said in a statement.

“The decision was taken following careful consideration as to the negative impact this situation would have on the credibility of the said programme the pastor was contributing to, as it deals with morality issues.”

Zondo has since lost all speaking engagements, but has one last message for those who have the video in their possession.

“To those that have my video; keep it, do not delete it, so that when you experience something painful and difficult, you can remember that a man was shown naked to the whole country, but did not lose hope and carried on with life.”
